Denim Day

In 1998, the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped her rapist remove them, thereby implying consent. The next day, the women in the Italian Parliament went to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. The “Denim Day” campaign has been happening every year since.
